Other announcements:

Malleus Maleficarum: The Witches Hammer

Based on the time table I was given on Friday, we will receive the opener during exams. You’ll get it as soon as I do! (Mr. T.)

T-Shirt Sizes

Mr. T. needs t-shirt sizes for all 2009-2010 MP Band students by Friday, June 5th. This is for the primary t-shirt order for our Malleus Maleficarum shirts. Some of you have given me your sizes, but a majority of you have not. Parents interested in ordering a shirt on the first order wave should provide their size and $15.00 per shirt by Friday, June 5th.

NightBeat Tickets

NightBeat is in Rock Hill this year at District 3 Stadium (which is smaller than the MP Stadium) as Memorial Stadium in Charlotte is going through some repairs. As of now, I am not sure that we will be able to travel to NightBeat as a group as Rock Hill District 3 Stadium is “out of state” and as we all know, out of state travel carries miles of red tape. However, I can still order group rate tickets in advance for students who would like to go, regardless of transportation arrangements. The ticket price is $30.00. I need the money from interested students and parents by Friday, June, 12th.

Initiative and Responsibility

As you all know, I have not scheduled leadership team try-outs/interviews/etc. Should you feel that you need to speak to me about the amount of responsibility that you would like to have next year, I encourage you to take the initiative to and schedule a time to do so. The primary duty of any leader is to take the initiative to make something happen, and not wait around for an engraved invitation. The try-out process has essentially turned into a week-long butt-kissing session, and as try-outs began long, long ago, a dedicated week of brown-nosing is unnecessary.

Carwash Thanks

Thank you to everyone who helped out with the carwash on Saturday. It was by far the best attended carwash the MP Band has ever had. We plan to have one on June 30th and July 27th, so go ahead and put those dates in your calendar.

Crossmen Spots

The Crossmen have 4 holes; 1 trumpet spot, 1 baritone spot, 1 euphonium spot, and 1 tuba spot. The tuition cost for the summer is $2,000. If you are interested, call Aaron Goldberg @ 978-853-1669. The show is entitled: ForbiddeN.

Central Band Help

The Central Cabarrus Band needs our help. Attrition caused by a revolving door in the band director’s office, and also due to the splitting of the school in 2008, the Central Band has dwindled to a very small number of students. I know that some of you are friends with Central Band students through church, etc. Please encourage them to stick it out this season. The new director, Mr. Steve Petrucci, needs a chance to return the Central Band to its potential, but can not do that without participating students.

Disney World Trip

The commitment deposit for the 2010 Disney World trip is due on Monday, June 1st. The deposit is $30.00 per person and is non refundable. If you are going to Disney, please turn in your deposit.

Practice Records

The seventeenth one is due 6/1.

Colorguard Auditions

Colorguard auditions will take place on Thursday, June 4th from 5-8 PM in the band room. Encourage anyone you know who may be interested.

Drum Major Auditions

Congratulations to Erin H. for being selected as MP Band Drum Major for the 2009-2010 season.

Graduation

It will come as no surprise to you that we are playing at Graduation again this year. All band students are expected to be in attendance. Our performance literature will definitely be Pomp and Circumstance, and The Days of Blue and Gold.

“Optional” Full Band Summer Rehearsals Dates

Thursdays, June 11th and 25th, and July 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th, from 4:00-8:00 PM at MPHS (rain or shine).

“Optional” Summer Guard and Percussion Rehearsals Dates

Tuesdays, July 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th, from 4:00-8:00 PM at MPHS (rain or shine).

“Optional” Definition: Not required if you are out of town, but if you are in town and the decision is between watching TV or coming to rehearsal, you should plan to be at rehearsal.

Aluminum Can Collection

Some of you remember the band room work day that we had back during the summer. We will be having another one of these workdays on Saturday, December 20th at 8:00 AM. In addition to deep cleaning the band room and storage areas, painting the winterguard floor is also on the agenda. There is no sign-up sheet and this is not a requirement, but many hands make light work and your assistance is appreciated. Winterguard is rehearsing on this same date, but not in the band room. Your schedule is 9AM-9PM.
