Mount Pleasant High School Band News and Announcements:

MP Guard Places 1st at Sun Valley
Competition!
The MP Winterguard came in 1st place in Class
3A on Saturday at the Sun Valley Winter Premier. This places
them in a great position as they prepare for this weekend’s
contest at Rock Hill High School. Make sure to congratulate
the girls for their outstanding performance. If you are
interested in traveling with us to Rock Hill on Saturday,
our caravan will be leaving MPHS at 11:00 AM, but you are
responsible for your own transportation. Once the actual
performance schedule is posted for Saturday, this time table
could change.

Woodwind Sectional Make-Up
Since our Woodwind sectional
was snowed out on Monday, we will make it up today
(February 8th) from 3:00-5:00 PM. We had previously
scheduled a full ensemble rehearsal on this day. As
of now, that rehearsal has been moved to next Monday
(February 15th).

All-County Band
Congratulations to the 12 MP Band
members selected to the 2010 Cabarrus All-County
Band. Each student selected was provided with two
sheets of instructions, one of which must be signed
and returned to me with their $15.00 participation
fee. Checks should be made out to the MP Band
Boosters because we will write one check for
everyone’s fee on the day of the event. If you do
not pay your fee, you will not be able to attend the
All-County clinic. Parents- If you have not seen the
paperwork that I referred to above, please let me
know and I will provide you with another copy.
Priority in All-County is given to students who make
the SCDBA All-District Band, or students who at
least tried out for All-District.

Candy Left
We still have some boxes of candy if
you want to sell them. See Mr. T..

Trumpet Lessons
Trumpet players: If you have a lesson
scheduled with Nathan this week, please bring your
lesson fees.

|
Cheesecake Fundraiser
We are in the midst of our Cheesecake
Fundraiser, and I hope that you are all having great
luck in your sales attempts. All Cheesecakes are
$17.00 and all of the profit from each sale goes
directly to your student account. That amounts to
$6.80 per cake that you sell. That money could help
out greatly with fees, Disney payments, etc. Our
goal is for each student to sell at least ten. If
you need additional forms, they are in the band
office door pocket. Envelopes are also available for
your use. All checks should be made out to the MP
Band Boosters.

|
CiCi’s Night!!!
Tell your friends and bring the whole
family! Place your receipt in the box next to the
cash register and the MP Band receives 10% of sales!
With so little money coming in to the general fund
right now, we need this bad. Come on out. Our next
date is Tuesday, February 9th.

Cookie Dough For Sale
The Winterguard did a cookie dough
sale in December, and we have some left. Amanda
Hicks has it in her freezer, so if you would like a
tub, please let me know. Tubs are $10 and are
available in Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut
Butter, and White Chocolate Macadamia.

Disney Update
The drop dead payment date for our
spring trip to Disney World is February 16th. That
date puts us 45 days out from the trip and we will
have to submit our final numbers to our travel
agent. If your payments have not been satisfied by
this date, you will be dropped from the list. There
is simply nothing else that the band boosters can
do. If you would like to make a payment, please put
it in the band room mailbox, or use our pay pal
account on our Payments Page.
Next week I will begin the rooming list. Start
making decisions about who you want to stay with
now.

Festival Band Rehearsals
With our performing ensemble being
split into two class periods, the necessary time
needed to prepare for state concert festival is not
available to us during the class day. Each Monday
from 3-5 PM we will have an after school rehearsal
in the band room to work on our music as a full
ensemble. I know that we are all involved in
numerous other activities, but this is only one day
per week. Please make the necessary arrangements
with your employer, club advisor, or coach.
Arrangements for transportation home at 5:00 PM each
Monday shouldn’t be forgotten.

Disney World Trip

Disney World trip was due on Monday, June 1st. The
deposit is $30.00 per person and is non refundable.
The second payment, due on September 1st was $125 per person
and is also non-refundable. Note that these payments
are non-refundable because they are fees that are
paid to Disney and the bus lines to secure our
slots. It is Disney and the bus company to retains
this money, should a slot be cancelled last minute.
The November payment was due on the
2nd. Members who have not kept up with payments and
have not discussed alternative plans with the
booster treasurer have been removed from the travel
list. Please keep your payments up to date.
Upcoming payments/dates:
02/01 - $125 per person **
Payment coupons can be downloaded
below.
* non-refundable.
** refundable up to 45 Days prior to

Feed the Band
Each football game and each
competition, we feed the band, to make sure the kids
start their performance with a good meal. Parents
are asked to chip in on a meal or two to help cover
expenses and prepare the meals. We have an immediate
need to help with the meal for the first football
game on August 21st. Please contact Amanda Hicks if
you can assist on this date and to see if other
dates are available.
Please contact Amanda at
mommahicksfeedstheband@yahoo.com if you can help
and for more info.
