Bart Tulbert has been Director of Bands at Mount Pleasant High School since 2002. Under his baton, the Mount Pleasant Band has enjoyed success on the marching band field and in the concert hall. From 2002-2007, the marching band has won five grand championships at competitions in Mooresville, Charlotte, Lexington, Newton-Conover and Connelly Springs, as well as numerous caption awards and superior ratings. The Mount Pleasant Symphonic Band has also received three straight superior ratings (2005-2007) in Grade IV and Grade V literature at the South Central District’s Annual Concert Band Festival. Mr. Tulbert also directs the Mount Pleasant Winterguard, the Mount Pleasant Percussion Ensemble, and is the Assistant Director of Bands at Mount Pleasant Middle School. Originally from Mooresville, NC, Mr. Tulbert is a 2001 graduate of Appalachian State University and a 1996 graduate of Mooresville Senior High School.

While at Appalachian State, Mr. Tulbert studied Euphonium with Mr. Robert Clark, Ethnomusicology with Dr. Scott Meister and Music Education with Dr. Bill Gora, Dr. Jay Jackson and Mr. Bill McCloud. In addition to his academic duties, Mr. Tulbert served as Drum Major of the ASU Marching Band and President of the ASU Men’s Glee Club for one year, President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity for two years and Director of the Appalachian Marching Band Festival for three years. Mr. Tulbert also worked as Music Ministry Intern at First Baptist Church of Boone under the direction of Rev. Michael Clawson. During the fall of 2001, Mr. Tulbert student taught at David W. Butler High School in Matthews, NC under the direction of Mr. Jeff Pusser.

Mr. Tulbert is a member of Music Educators National Conference, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, the National Band Association, the North Carolina Association of Educators, the National Educators Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently resides in Kannapolis with his wife Carrie, son Liam, and greyhound Hunter.
